Spring/Summer 2010 R-T-W Fashion Trend Report
Ahhhhh Spring! The trends for spring 2010 are pretty exciting! It's always exciting but I think the difference this year is in variety. There's so much to choose from and for the most part, it's all pretty flattering! Checkout this fashion trends cheat sheet created by the team at PortiaJewelry.com for spring/ summer 2010.
Flirty Academic Wear- Designers catered to the young crowd with boy shorts, over-the-knee socks, tweeds and stripes with a flirty academic feel. These prep school inspirations were seen at Alexander Wang, ADAM, Alexandre Herchcovitch, Anna Sui, Rag & Bone and Tory Burch.
Disco Tribal Warrior Clash- Sounds like madness, but it seems to come together well. This futuristic disco tribal warrior/military meshes together with metallics and shimmering fabrics, tribal prints and military jackets. This look also showed on jewelry with stacked bracelets and bangles and oversized necklaces.
1920's Sportwear- Designers also gave us a pretty delicate version of sporty clothing by getting inspired by the 1920's.
Spring Jumpers- Here to stay! We hope so. Jumpers and rompers in every texture, color and style are up for grabs. These are great especially if you're looking for an outfit that transforms from day to night. Simply add a blazer/ boyfriend jacket over your jumper for a day look and take it off for a night look. Jumpsuits are awesome... it's one of our favorite trends!
City Surfers- Forget the skulls and goth-looking-tattoo-print clothing and step into the world of a surfer. Tie-dye prints and tropical printed pants spruced up for a cocktail hour in Manhattan, is what this feels like to us.
Respectable PEEK-A-BOO- Sheer fabrics and peek-a-boo cut outs, slits, mesh, and lace were seen at Donna Karen, Jill Stuart, Behnaz Sarafpur, Chado Ralph Rucci, James Wu, Narciso Rodriguez, Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, Preen, Marchesa, Rodarte, Alexander Wang, doo.ri and on and on.... This trend was seen in ultra sexy cocktail dresses as well as soft and light colored ensembles.
Effortless Power- Boyfriend blazers and relaxed power suits--- key is to look effortless with cool and flowing fabrics.
Playful Feathers- Playful, sexy, soft and airy in all colors and lengths. We think it's spring's version of fur! Seen at Chris Benz, Jason Wu, Diane von Furstenberg, ADAM, Rodarte and Chado Ralph Rucci.
The Jeans That "STILL" Fit- We say "still" fits because they are so ripped and patched up that they look like they may fall off any moment! This cut out denim look is ultra hot, especially if you tone down the rest of your outfit.. like wearing them with a white tee and blazer.
Dress Trend- We noticed lots of dresses with ultra high splits. Dresses and gowns are still showing off those sexy shoulders with one-shoulder looks.
Spring 2010 COLOR TRENDS
Lots of Color... don't be afraid of color! Dark rich gem colors paired with yellow, orange, lime and white.
Neutrals like black, beige, gray and white were seen at Calvin Klein, Donna Karen, Behnaz, Burberry and narciso rodriguez
Our favorite color this season- YELLOW
Our favorite neutral this season- Gray
Michael Kors showed us stunning and romantic watercolors.
Confident Booster Shoes- leathercut outs- fabrics, studs, metallics, feathers, ankle wraps, snake prints and bows... sky high!
Hair- It should all depend on your look..Loose, soft and healthy for all the playful looks this season and try going a bit futuristic (think Rhianna) for those strong power outfits.
Makeup- Color is the trend but opt for less if your jewelry and clothes hold the punch. I think we probably say this every year.. just stick to looking fresh and healthy.
